PURPOSE OF THIS DOCUMENT
The Training Plan lists the training modules and the courses that make up each module, as well as an outline of what is contained in each course for the Emergency Measures Radio Group - Ottawa ARES.
Introduction
The EMRG training program is made up a series of modules which define sets of skills or competencies. Within each module there is one or more courses, on specific topics related to the module.
Some modules or courses are requirements for operation, such as Net Control. Completion of all courses within a module is recognized with a certificate to identify that the holder has completed this series of courses.
Training Packages
Each EMRG training course has a unique course number. For each course there will be one to three documents packages;
Trainer Package - Information, notes, suggestions, etc for anyone presenting the course.
Participant Package- Information that the participants can reference in class, which contains the course material.
Reference Package- Information which is provided as reference and which is referred to in the class but which is not covered, or is not covered completely in the class. For example, an Industry Canada RIC.
Course Types
Courses may be classroom oriented with an instructor, or they may be designed for Self Study. Self Study courses are used when the material can be presented in written form and there is little value added by having an instructor present the material.
Certification Expiration
Many courses have an expiry date specified, forcing each member to retake the course. Expiry of a certification is critical in some courses, such as first aid and acts as a reminder or update in others.
